AI Software that Creates new Inventions

Dr. Val Tsourikov, Predizo LLC, Chief AI (Artificial Intelligence) Architect, TRIZ Master, val@truemachina.com www.truemachina.com, Belarus, Minsk

Creative AI software:

  • generates novel ideas and new inventions automatically
  • uses discoveries, materials, and designs immediately after publications to create revolutionary inventions
  • dramatically multiplies creative productivity of tech teams, yet very easy in use, no training required

The exponential increase of intellectual power of Artificial Intelligence opens a unique opportunity – to build a Creative AI system which uses newly published technical and scientific knowledge to generate novel ideas and inventions in continuous mode.

We call this software True Machina™ because unlike other machines, which automate rather simple operations, this software is capable of finding ideas of new inventions, i.e., it automates the most difficult and the most essential human operation – creativity.

During his entire professional career, Dr. Val Tsourikov has been focusing on automation of creativity by developing unique A.I. engines and knowledge bases for different domains. He received a master degree in computer science at Minsk University of Informatics. As a postdoc visitor, Val studied advanced A.I. methods at the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London. Dr. Tsourikov founded A.I. Laboratory at Minsk University of Informatics in 1987. In his Ph.D. thesis, Val proposed novel A.I. system Pulsar, which was able to generate novel ideas in technical areas.

This system became a foundation of Val’s first company, Invention Machine Laboratory, founded by Val and a group of his former students in Minsk in 1989. The company grew rapidly, and in 1992 Val decided to move his operations to Boston where he registered Invention Machine Corporation (IMC), and he served as the CEO and CTO till 2001. Several A.I. software systems were developed and implemented by leading technology companies in the world, including Motorola, Intel, Xerox, General Electric, Boeing, NASA, P&G, Unilever, SAAB, Honda, BMW, Ferrari, and Samsung. A multimillion-dollar contract was signed with Mitsubishi Research Institute to adapt A.I. systems to Japanese companies. First versions of IM-software used the knowledge bases of TRIZ and Functional Analysis. In 2000 IMC launched semantic engine as a pure A.I. tool that can create a semantic network of any text and to help users to find creative solutions in any domain.

In 2001, Val co-authored several U.S. and international patents on creativity automation and semantic intelligence. His innovative ideas were featured by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Business Week. In 1998 Fortune Magazine named Val Hero of U.S. manufacturing (FORTUNE Magazine, May 25, 1998).

TRIZ in Education

TRIZ in Education, History of teaching development based on the Method of Images, business experience

Abstract

In this article, we described our 46 years of experience in applying TRIZ in education.

From the perspective of TRIZ, hundreds of thousands of mathematics, physics, and chemistry problems were analyzed, developed a system of operations and algorithms, established standards for their solution, and included aspects of the latest achievements of didactics, psychology, and psychophysiology, object-oriented programming.

When teaching generalized actions and operations, we teach visual-figurative graphic material, reference signals, diagrams, and diagrams and develop on-screen and imaginative thinking. In the Method of Images, we teach students about enlarged, generalized operations. Then the operations are combined into “methods,” flowcharts, which are a union, a combination of several operations, and are designated by a figurative label. There are main 57 categories of the Method of Images. The development of the Image Method and its successful implementation for many years became the Winner of the International Competition for Projects in “Distance Education in Modern Situations.” It is shown that the technology of distance learning, precisely based on the Method of Images, is much more effective than the correspondence form of education and is comparable and superior in quality parameters to offline classes. In this presentation, emphasis will be made on the history of the creation of the Image Method without disclosing Know-How, with a large number of examples.

Identifying the Correct Problem to Solve

Any challenge that requires an innovative solution is usually associated with a cluster of entwined problems, some obvious and others hidden. Solving a wrong problem drains the company of time, money, saps people’s energy, and often results in missed market opportunities. This tutorial will acquaint you with major tools of modern TRIZ used for the thorough identification and formulation of the most promising problems worth solving.

Over the past 25 years, Victor has collected more than two decades of consulting experienceFey Victor 2021.1024 serving the Global 1000. His work has ranged from teaching and consulting to facilitating and leading cross-functional teams in delivering critical breakthrough product and technology solutions. At Hyundai-Kia Motors, his consulting effort resulted in obtaining over 100 patents with an estimated ROI of $103 million.

From 1997 through 2014, he was an Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University, where he taught the first graduate-level course in TRIZ in the West. He has lectured at MIT, Stevens Institute of Technology, Chalmers University, Technion, and others.

Victor chairs the TRIZ R&D Council of the International TRIZ Association (MATRIZ) and the Certification Board of the Altshuller Institute for TRIZ Studies.

His books include Effective Innovation: The Development of Winning Technologies, published by ASME Press, and Innovation on Demand: New Product Development Using TRIZ, released by Cambridge University Press (translated to Korean; Chinese translation is scheduled for 2020).
